high horsepower Ferrari models
Hi guys,
I do apologise if this has been discussed before, I did have a search but could not find what I was looking for .. google wasnt much help either. I'd like to ask the experts to provide some info or point me in the right direction. I'm into collecting Ferrari models with high power figures so I'd like to continue this theme and maybe collect the Ferraris that have the highest horsepower known. Im looking at road going cars (and track cars) but not the F1s. Also included are modified Ferraris by official tuners. I have the following models in my collection and the respective horsepower estimates (found online from various sources): 1) Koenig-Specials Competition Evolution ~ 1000 hp 2) Michelotto F40 GTE ~ 900 hp 3) FXX ~ 800 hp 4) 599XX ~ 720 hp 5) Enzo ~ 660 hp 6) Koenig-Special 512BBi ~ 650 hp 7) 458 Italia ~ 560 hp 8) F430 GT3 ~ 500 hp * I understand power figures can vary especially on the track cars, so I'm just after rough estimates. Below are the models that I know of but are not yet in my collection: FXX Evoluzione ~ 860 hp F40 LM ~ 760 hp F50 GT ~ 720 hp Gemballa MIG-U1 ~ 700hp 599 GTO ~ 670 hp P4/5 ~ 660 hp GTO Evoluzione ~ 650 hp 612 scaglietti/sessanta ~ 540 hp F430 16M ~ 510 hp 360 GTC ~ 450 hp Could anyone add to the list of some models I have overlooked? Cheers. Last edited by Phatboi101; 07-23-2010 at 07:14 PM. |

How are you going to define "Official" tuners?
Your list goes back to the early 80's. How far back do you want to go? The Lampredi engined cars were considered high HP in their day. So was the Daytona. Or do you just want to apply the modern definition, whatever that is? If the 458 makes the list I would suggest the 355, 360 and std 430 should as well. At their time their HP numbers were as impressive as the 458 is now.

By official tuners I was meaning to imply established companies like Koenig, Michelotto, Gemballa etc and not 1 offs created by enthusiasts.
In terms of the time period ..I do prefer the 80s,90s and 2000 era Ferraris, even better if they were tuned and rare in reality like the Koenigs instead of just the base model. The 458 is on the list as I just had to have this model in my collection, but if there is a tuned 458 version out with greater power and track focused, it would be on the list instead. Novitec Rosso has some high powered vehicles, if they fit your criteria.

599 GTB is 612HP. Sometimes stated as 620HP.

I keep thinking that instead of just looking at HP, you take a look at HP/weight.
That is a 2000 pound car with 400 HP is actually faster than a 3000 pound car with 600 HP (most of the time). The smaller lighter car can be faster because you can put "more tire" on it reletive to its weight. So instead of something like 245s up front and 285s out back on the 3000 pound car, you actually use 245s up front and 285s out back on the 2000 pound car; and end up with tires carrying 2/3rds the load per unit footprint on the road. Tires used thusly will have more grip (in Gs) than when more heavily loaded. Now what we need is a chart relating the various Ferraris; ordered by HP/weight. |
